Requirements For All House Coaches

House League Coach Requirements:

Delaware Soccer Club expects the following of all House League Coaches. The purpose of these requirements is to assist the club in providing high quality training, consistency across the program and to help participation be a positive experience for players and families.

1. RISK MANAGEMENT

 

—All coaches and assistant coaches must complete the required risk management procedures prior to beginning coaching. This must be done every two years or as required by the club.

2. YOUTH MODULE TRAINING

—Upon becoming a House League coach for Delaware Soccer Club, all coaches are required to complete a youth module. The youth module training, to be completed through New York State West Youth Soccer Association (NYSWYSA) requires three to four hours of time and is designed to assist the coach in developing coaching skills and understand children at each player level.

3. ATTENDING COACHES’ MEETINGS

—Coaches must attend the coaches’ meeting held prior to the beginning of the season. If unable to attend, the coach is to send a person who will be responsible for picking up equipment, rosters and information related to the upcoming season.

4. NOTIFICATION OF PLAYERS AND FAMILIES

— Coaches must notify players listed on their roster concerning practice, game schedule and any other pertinent information.

5. MAINTAINING ROSTERS

— Under no circumstances is a coach allowed to change a roster by adding players or moving players to another team. Requests related to any changes must be directed to the Vice-President of the House League Program.

6. EQUIPMENT

—Coaches are responsible for the care of club equipment during the season and are expected to return equipment at the end of the season unless other arrangements are made with the VP of the House League.

7. INJURY REPORTS

—Coaches are expected to report any injuries through the completion of the Injury Report Form distributed prior to the beginning of the season.

8. FEEDBACK REGARDING PROGRAM

CLUB POLICIES—Delaware Soccer Club expects all coaches to adhere to the basic philosophy of the club in areas such a relationship with families, treatment of players, interaction with trainers and coaches. These expectations are included in the coaches’ manual.

—Coaches are encouraged to give feedback to the Board of Directors regarding parents complaints, compliments, effectiveness of trainers and any other concerns regarding the program.
